Under this, 72 thousand health workers of 17 districts will administer filariasis medicine to 3.6 crore people of the state.

CM Yogi has appealed to the people to join this campaign as much as possible. This disease is caused by the bite of Culex fish. Once this mosquito bites, its symptoms appear between 5-15 years. Swelling of hands and feet appears in 5-15 years. In such a situation, consider yourself suffering from filariasis and take medicine to save your future generations from this disease. This medicine is completely safe. Do not wait for its symptoms to appear, rather take the medicine on time. 

The universal drug intake campaign (MDA round) will be run from 10 to 28 February in 17 districts. Under this, health workers will go door-to-door and give medicines to children below 2 years of age. Except pregnant people and seriously ill people, everyone else can take filariasis medicine. For your information, let us tell you that the target of filaria free India has been set by the year 2027.

Doctors believe that medicines like Diethylcarbamazine (DEC), Albendazole and Ivermectin are safer against elephantiasis. However, some side effects may also be seen. Problems like fever, headache, body ache, vomiting, rashes, itching and restlessness may occur.
